So, Rick Beato is my peer--he should remember when Rolling Stone characterized The Dark Side of the Moon as a "mediocre effort". So, Rick, you don't see Allan Holdsworth, Gary Moore, Django Reinhardt, Al Di Meola among many others in this list?
It NEVER was about music, it was always about politics, ideology and agenda, this is how we have got U-2 and Edge with their musical drudgery, this is how Kurt Cobain, who could barely play, was named many times one of the greatest guitarists of all time. But you know me, I am on record--once a person or institution begins to concoct all kinds of rankings it means there is nothing more to say. Rolling Stone is an irrelevant musically and pathetic culturally rag which translates non-stop pseudo-cultural agenda and doesn't care about art as such. Music was always secondary for them, as was musical ability. So, no point in being upset--Rolling Stone staff doesn't even know who Joe Pass or Allan Holdsworth are. They are the product of imploding America's humanities education and soon they will not know who Pink Floyd, Deep Purple or Led Zeppelin are. It is coming.
