It Is Not Just "Hostile" ...

... this is a metaphysical clash between Satanism of the West, especially as represented by evangelical fundamentalists and dispensationalists against spiritual tradition of 2000 years.

Italy has privately raised concerns over an EU proposal to sanction Russian Patriarch Kirill, joining Bulgaria in openly opposing the restrictions, Politico has reported. Moscow has long accused Brussels of taking a hostile stance against the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC), effectively siding with Ukraine, which views the church as a Russian state entity rather than an independent religious body. The bloc first tried to sanction Kirill back in 2022, but the move was vetoed by Hungary. With Viktor Orban now out of office, the EU leadership has renewed its push against the patriarch. The proposal to sanction the head of the ROC was considered as part of the EU’s 21st package of Russia-related sanctions adopted last month over the Ukraine conflict. Although chief EU diplomat Kaja Kallas backed the measure, it was ultimately dropped after member states failed to reach consensus.

Italy may raise concerns whatever it wants, but decomposing West will not stop.

Bulgaria, whose population is predominantly composed of Orthodox Christians, also opposed the proposal. Sofia argued that while it generally does not support “sanctions that are primarily symbolic,” the move could be viewed as religious persecution.

"Symbolic" eventually will become a law and fanatics in Brussels, Paris or Berlin will make sure that Euro-sheeple will not have any alternative to "European values" whose main objective is institutionalizing pedophilia and a complete removal of the traditional morality. This is one of the major drivers of the ongoing conflict between Europe and Russia and whose outcome is already certain.

One cannot always frame things in purely economic terms, however critical, one must always consider a larger picture and a nature of the conflict which is always complex and what would seem secondary may eventually become primary. In the end, for people who get into the real study of WW II, as much as I do not take Karen Shakhnazarov for serious thinker and the top tier director, in the White Tiger he captured the essence of Europe's centuries-old march to the East.

That's what Europe wanted. That's what they want--to see Russia and Russians gone. Not all, I'll give them that, but the majority. In the end, Vatican wanted that too.

Well, Because ...

... morons try to "analyze" the obvious.

Why the U.S.-Russia Ukraine Talks Failed

Because they are not "talks", morons. They are dictating the conditions for capitulation of the West and the US trying to avoid a wholesale humiliation. Russians provided offramp for the US constantly during this 2025, a whole duration of Trump 2.0. But with the "advisers" such as Kellogg and other US generals who spew amateurish BS at FOX (Trump watches FOX) what do you expect? This is not to say that Witkoff and Kushner didn't enjoy their stay in Moscow--what's not to enjoy?

Per Kushner being there--I elaborate on that in my today's video which should be up in an hour or so--it is about both Israel and globalist Jewish capital. Somebody among those people finally recognized that delayed by the US by 80 years reckoning for Western Europe is here and with it the death of the safe haven for capital. It is a complex game, and one may ask--why not in the US. Well, I have some bad news--the US itself is unstable and bankrupt. So, where to park this capital now? China? Sure, but again--who knows. But what entity is stable and prudent, and emerged victorious from the titanic clash with the combined West? Here is your answer. Per Israel--Russia can provide Israel some sort of guarantees ONLY on the bases of establishment and recognition of Palestinian State, so--no go. But it doesn't mean that Zionists will not stop trying.

My friend Commander Farinazzo tells you important thing:

The era of grossly overstated West's military prowess is over. TOE from 1980s is NOT capable to fight TOE from 2025, period.

About Dubai Air Show.

As you may understand, the contracts signed on such kinds of shows are not really negotiated there--serious contracts for weapons are prepared usually much in advance, sometimes years after long and tedious negotiations. But here is the deal with modern Russian expositions--they present weapon systems which are unrivaled not only "on paper" but in actual combat performance in the REAL (emphasis on "real") war.

These are not just combat aircraft, but air defense systems which simply dominate modern air defense field. So, a lot of butthurt, as you might expect, to go around in Western "military expert" (a euphemism for fanboys and gamers) field, while in reality, rumor has it, there is a line now for those who want to see Su-57E flying for their air forces, while Russian-made AD systems simply have no competition. Unless one calls blackmailing and arm-twisting by the West's arms dealers and politicians as such.

Meanwhile, India has a bit of a tough time facing the fork in the road and caving (at least for now) to the US pressure (blackmail) in energy sector. Unlike China who can and does tell Trump to go suck ... I mean pound sand, India is not a genuine superpower and now India's Foreign Minister is in Russia ...

On November 17, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held talks with Minister of External Affairs of the Republic of India Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, who is in Moscow to attend a meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of Government. The ministers discussed topical aspects of the bilateral and international agenda with an emphasis on preparations for the annual Russian-Indian summit, which will be held on the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration on Strategic Partnership between the two countries. Due attention was paid to practical steps to further develop trade and economic cooperation, including in the energy and financial spheres, as well as issues of military-technical and logistical cooperation.

Russia will accommodate India in whatever situation she will find herself trying to balance her Western and BRICS interests, but at some point of time India will have to choose between the two, not because of the pressure from Russia and China, but because of the logic of the economic and military circumstances in which combined Wests' circling the drain accelerates tremendously.

The Chair of the China's State Council (Premier) Li Qiang arrived in Moscow today for SCO meeting.

As some observers noted:

Premier Li’s trip comes at a pivotal moment. As the global landscape continues to undergo transformation marked by geopolitical uncertainty, sluggish economic recovery, and complex security challenges, the SCO stands out as a key platform for dialogue, collaboration, and regional solidarity. China’s participation, rooted in principles of mutual respect, mutual benefit, and win-win cooperation, reinforces its long-standing role as a stabilizer and growth engine across the vast Eurasian region. For example, SCO meetings serve as important confidence-building measures among member countries. Prime Minister Modi’s attendance at the Tianjin Summit this year could positively reshape China–India relations. Thus, member states can use this useful platform for good neighborhood, good understanding and better ties. Li Qiang’s all engagement and meetings with participants in Moscow may establish more good links with neighboring countries.

I cannot emphasize enough (nor can I list all of them) the scale of the developments within BRICS, especially Russia launching major Uranium and Rare Earth extraction projects in Yakutia, with SCO building a fortress of resources critical for future development and, in fact, cutting off EU from these resources. In my today's video I speak about Alexander Novak's statement on October 15th this year which sounded as the death sentence to EU and should have terrified morons who run it.

Don't Worry, Mr. Wang Yi.

It is already set in stone.

China cannot afford for Russia to lose the war in Ukraine, Beijing’s foreign minister has said, in unguarded comments to European officials. Wang Yi said Beijing does not want to see a Russian loss because of fears the United States would then shift its focus on to China. The comments were made during a four-hour meeting between Mr Wang and Kaja Kallas, the vice-president of the European Commission, according to several sources who spoke to the South China Morning Post.

Russia is fully aware of what is going on and the demilitarization of the combined West continues. Successfully. That is why Mr. Trump is "unhappy" after his chat with Mr. Putin yesterday. In fact, Mr. Yi, other than moving its grossly outdated carrier force back and forth in the Pacific theater of operations, and with the exception of its definitely superior submarine force, the US simply has no resources to fight China. US military-political establishment is good at verbiage, in terms of real actions with satisfactory outcomes--well, it sucks. And yes, after Mr. Ryabkov's statements in Iranian Embassy in Moscow three days ago, let me state what I was stating ad nauseam for the last decade: Russia's role in BRICS (and Eurasia) in general is that of a defender of the realm based on revolutionary military and civilian technologies and historically unrivaled operational experience. It is for China to decide which way she wants to go. I speak about some of those nuances in my today's video.

P.S. Four hours with this stupid bitch, good Lord, Chinese definitely have the ability to take punishment)))

For Those Who Still Can Not Grasp ...

... the scale of the event. 80th is more than just Victory Day, it is pinning Europe (original West) down where it belongs--as the generator of aggression and genocide in the 20th Century. When I say that SMO is the final salvos of WW II I mean it. What is happening in Moscow today is formalization of the historic fact of civilization shifting to the East. The excitement, the emotion can be seen here in Myanmar (Burma) company singing Katyusha, in Russian no less, before entering the Red Square for rehearsal. The atmosphere is electric ...

I am sure Kiev was warned, including through the statement of Dmitri Medvedev, that if any attempt will be made on Parade, Kiev will cease to exist, including all political top of 404 and scumbags from London who prop this neo-Nazi regime up. Per General Kartapolov, Oreshnik should be on the Parade. We'll see soon enough.

This Is In The Foundation...

... of the whole goddamn thing with the West.

It was always about it. Even when it deals with metaphysical, such as West's attempts to remove Orthodox Christians through Kiev's regime from their cathedrals, as is the case today in Cherkassy.

Russia and Russian Orthodoxy are a threat to the West by the fact of their fierce independence which can also defend itself. In fact, best in the world in this respect and, yes, it is a very loaded statement.

A Reminder...

While we are all busy with something, I post here a screenshot with machine translation of this:

Here is the link to the original. Many European (including the US) people are on the move to Russia. The issue of migration in favor of primarily white European Christian folks to Russia will be resolved soon, especially after Bastrykin's words, which Russians supported overwhelmingly. As I repeat ad nauseam--Russia IS the West.

Can NATO...

 ... handle defeat?

The answer is simple--NO, it cannot. I understand that Tony Shaffer is "against corruption", against this "stupid war" et al, we all are, but it is too late now to step away from the precipice of what can only be defined as America's realistic view of herself in the last 80 years. As I repeat ad nauseam--the roots of the chaos we live through today are on the battlefields of WW II and the insane speed with which the history of WW II has been rewritten in the West to fit its "democracy" narrative. The ideological imperatives of the Cold War 1.0 played a cruel joke on the United States and eventually THE narrative became a reality for the US ruling class. And now we all see not only American military power myth dissipate, but we see clearly the nature of the West's ruling class as... if you expect me to use terms like incompetent, evil et al, no, we knew this already--they are children who decided to play games adults play. And play they did and now they see their toys thrown away and as mischievous children being pointed by adults towards corner--for punishment.

I want to remind you Michael Brenner's precise diagnosis:

Americanism provides a Unified Field Theory of self-identity, collective enterprise, and the Republic’s enduring meaning. When one element is felt to be in jeopardy, the integrity of the whole edifice becomes vulnerable. In the past, American mythology energized the country in ways that helped it to thrive. Today, it is a dangerous hallucinogen that traps Americans in a time warp more and more distant from reality. There is a muted reflection of this strained condition in the evident truth that Americans have become an insecure people. They grow increasingly anxious about who they are, what they are worth and what life will be like down the road.

There was good in America and it did thrive until... it bought into own narrative. And here is a contrast.

A young marine, Hero of Russia, answering the question what did he get the highest honor the Motherland can give for, simply answers: for the love to Motherland and moving paperwork in the staff. No bravado, no chest thumping. You cannot defeat these people, as I warned for many years--these are adults because they know what they are fighting for and what price to be paid. I can only repeat, I lost the count how many times, what is being said from highest podiums to among simple people in the streets--Russia cannot be defeated on the battlefield, period. Historic Russia, certainly, lost some battles but inevitably she proved Clausewitz' dictum that the result in the war is never final better than anyone in history, because in the end, she won her wars.

Meanwhile, no matter how evil, children will be children.

I will share with you a secret of sorts--how I wish Tom Clancy was still alive.

Figures Speak...

... for themselves.

Guess from three times who won the elections? Of course, liberal opposition;)) Can you imagine if Navalny was alive and was running--I bet he would have won like... 0.1% of the votes. But what is new in this case is that Russia and Russians do not give a flying fuck about West's reaction which is so predictable. And this not just because the Western "democracy" is the saddest joke, it is because Russians do not give a flying fuck about West, simple as that. If tomorrow Paris will disappear without a trace, or Low Countries will go under water--Russians still will not give a flying fuck about it, well maybe for the treasures of Louvre. Riots breakout in Cologne and London and Islamists kill natives, too bad--West's problem. None of Russia's business. Terrorist acts in Rome? Fine with Russians. Russia will gladly embrace those Westerners who are immigrating to Russia, but for the West in general--nothing. It is over for Europe and soon coming to the United States. This is metaphysical.

Well, That's BBC For Ya...

British Bullshit Corporation, you know. But it applies generally to the majority of modern media class everywhere.

No surprise here, Western media establishment produces primarily professional BSers with zero real life applicable skills, while purging real journalists who do report facts. Very much same applies to many sectors of academia, especially so in the humanities field, but not exclusively.

What many do not recognize, is the fact that constant BSing inevitably leads to the atrophy of remaining actual skills in any field. One of my patrons today shared with me an outstanding piece by former Airbus Chief Scientist on why the West most likely will not get any hypersonic weapons any time soon--he blames education, or, rather, lack thereof in the modern West (In French).

Enjoy, this piece hits all proper nails on their heads. One cannot BS non-stop in anything, eventually BS catches up and voila'...

News of Today...

Everything you need to know about the fate of the West.

Now observe how the myth of European industrialism of the last 50 years will be dispelled. It rested, actually, on three large pillars:

1. Relative benevolence of the United States towards European energy policies, which still didn't preclude attempts of Reagan Administration to sabotage Soviet pipelines to Europe;

2. West Germany's Ostpolitik initiated by Willie Brandt's government and, successfully, continued by Helmut Schmidt;

3. And, of course, USSR and now Russia supplying very affordable energy to Europe.

It is over now. Today. Next step is this:

Which will see Russia stopping supplying oil for Europe and oil prices skyrocketing finishing off whatever is left from European economy.  So, that, combined with sheer desperation on part of DNC resulting in yesterday's mad psychobabble from Biden, is what defines modern West which is pretty much done by now.

The main question at this stage is how fast the US will follow the Europe into oblivion. Interesting, really...

If True...

...which I believe it is, it merely confirms what I increasingly begin to state openly--combined arms operations incompetence:

American officials helped prepare the Ukrainian military for its counteroffensive against Russian forces in the south of the country, CNN claimed on Thursday, citing anonymous sources. In its article, the US outlet alleged that this assistance included joint “war-gaming” analytical exercises designed to help the Ukrainians get a clear picture of how much personnel and hardware they would need in different scenarios. US officials, meanwhile, reportedly were able to better understand what kind of equipment, munitions or intelligence Washington could offer to Kiev. According to the report, which cites multiple US and Western officials and also Ukrainian sources, Washington had suggested that Kiev should keep its counteroffensive focused solely on the Kherson region in the south of the country as opposed to trying to strike on multiple fronts, which had supposedly been the Ukrainians’ initial plan.

I don't know who "calculated" this ever important and defining thing--a required force (наряд сил)--for this "counter-offensive", but whoever it was, or were, they have huge issues with operational planning and with math, in terms of stating conception, objectives (task) and criteria of effectiveness by which to judge the outcome, which, now we all know. Evidently, as it follows from CNN report, the unnamed (of course) US "sources" still think that:

Among the factors that have allegedly tipped the scale more in Ukraine’s favor recently, the anonymous officials named the delivery of sophisticated Western weaponry, including the US-made High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), as well as supposed hostility toward Russian troops among large swaths of the population in Russia-controlled regions of the country. The latter, according to CNN, has been translating into guerilla-style attacks, assassinations and sabotage efforts behind Russian lines.

You cannot fix stupid and amateur, and that is how US (and Western, in general) "aid" to Kiev regime increasingly looks like. But I have been at it for such a long time that there is no need to dwell on this yet again. The conclusion is simple and self-evident--those who "plan" these "operations" for VSU are the same people who ended up having lied and, finally, had their ass handed to them by a ragtag Taliban in Afghanistan and elsewhere. You cannot expect a serious combined arms operations of scale and scope of SMO ability from the military which primarily fought COIN throughout its modern existence. Granted, that North Vietnamese were more than just very skillful guerrillas, those guys also knew how to fight a good fight with serious weapons.

I am sure that this whole FUBAR with this "counter-offensive" which ended in a disaster, and pathetic attempts to sabotage IAEA visit to Zaprorozhie by trying to insert there two saboteur groups, which now have been annihilated, bear all hallmarks of the American "combined arms" planning which is primarily based around PR for the domestic consumption provided by pliable US media and have very little practical output in reality. In the end, even WaPo had enough with this "planning".  Now add here a procurement failure by Pentagon ranging from losing its industrial base to a perverted practices of R&D ranging from disasters with LCS, F-35 to a dismal performance of the US-made battlefield weapons, and one begins to get the impression about what constantly goes wrong. This also explains a desperation from seeing West's best proxy ever being annihilated in industrial quantities by a fraction of Russian Armed Forces.

For the environment of America's top political echelon over-saturated with political "scientists", climate "experts" and lawyers it is impossible to explain, to get across the realities of real warfare and views of the nation whose military history simply dwarfs whatever the United States can present as a counter or alternative experience. This is not the reality "the finest fighting force in history" can easily accept, nor, possibly, judging by the spiraling out of control demoralization and declining quality of the force, even comprehend.

So, I guess classic courses on mathematics, physics, tactics, operations theory and real military history can wait, because nothing "improves lethality" more than proper gender identification and controlling own microaggressions.

In related news from the real world:

While Russia flatly responded to Washington:

This is the only language combined West understands, this and a credible threat of force. This is why Russia speaks now in broadsides and we ain't seen nothing yet(c).

WTF!!!!

Are they doing this on purpose? I think they are.

A colorful new hire of the Biden administration, “queer activist” Sam Brinton, is making waves on social media for his strange appearance and openly deviant lifestyle. Brinton, who is a proud drag queen and “pup handler” – in other words, someone who leads gay men dressed in fetish gear around as they pretend to be dogs, before having sex with them – has been appointed to a high-ranking position in the Department of Energy’s Office of Nuclear Energy. On paper, a candidate with dual Masters degrees in nuclear and mechanical engineering from MIT would seem like a perfect fit. Brinton also has experience in the corridors of power, having previously advised the Obama White House on LGBTQ+ issues and worked with Congress on nuclear policy. His bio makes clear he has a solid professional background.

Here is the guy.

Yeah, he is "colorful", alright. Here is his biography. I read very little about his actual qualifications as applied to professional activity but, certainly, his bio has a very heavy emphasis on his LGBTQR... activities. Well, like these:

From the pups to their handlers and the bonds they share, an inside look at the increasingly popular leather subset. Just call them MAL's best friends.

So, I guess, I don't need to elaborate anymore on the reasons Russia breaks off with the West. Russia is not "progressive" enough nor is she as "advanced". This, of course, brings us to another issue, of Soviet period, which for all its flaws (and there were many of those) was absolutely not what was portrayed in the West. Just think about it.

Kazakhstan Sitrep.

By means of new video:

Turkish role becomes more visible behind Kazakh events and there is a definite desperation on West's part re: upcoming negotiations, judging by the number of statements from NATO all of which ring completely hollow. Especially against the background of Russia's reaction to Kazakh upheaval.

Great Piece From Dmitry Orlov...

At The Saker's blog. Cuts to the chase without unnecessary decorum. I agree with this piece wholeheartedly.

Read the whole thing, which is written with typical Orlov's finesse. As I am on record non-stop in the past few years, for very many Westerners acquaintance with modern Russia can provide a massive cultural shock. Not only by increasing manifestation of the wealth, but by the atmosphere in which people are free. As any country, Russia has blemishes and is far from perfect but the vector is unmistakable. And then, there are Moscow and St. Petersburg--cities so dazzling in their beauty, scale and grandeur, that for many Westerners (and non-Westerners alike) the experience could be overwhelming, even life-changing, especially coming from the life dominated by russophobic propaganda in Western media. This is a soft power.

I Wouldn't Even Post About It.

But people sent me "news" and "opinions" about slight skirmishes in Russia related to "opposition" rallies in defense of Alexey Navalny. My first message to all: it was a pathetic show of a few thousand infants, including many children, who were controlled and, inevitably, dispersed. As US Police Telegram Channel wrote to Russian colleagues:

They worked, alright. Now most important--tomorrow the process starts of bestowing "awards" to all those "protesters" which will range from stern conversations, the return of school kids to parents (it already started), penalties, imprisonment and, obviously, attaching records to these Navalny's morons as troublemakers, which will ensure that these cretins will pay dearly for that by means of being unemployable in any serious and well-paying organizations. Moreover, any, I underscore, ANY, so called internet "analysis" of some "upcoming Russian revolution", some "weakness of power" in Russia (remember, Putinvseslil)--it is all BS for hype and click-bait. Reality is such that this protest was... 5.5 times smaller than similar actions 4 years ago and, realistically speaking, it, as was expected, had more "journos" than protesters (in Russian).  20-million Moscow saw a whole 4,000 kids, while 2-million Novosibirsk saw...like, I don't know, 40-50? 600,000 Vladivostok saw about 300, with 200 of them being underage. So, do you get the picture? Can we now move on, but make a check in the box across US "diplomacy" now involving children. No surprise here, it is their MO to hide themselves behind children.

Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs already called on US Embassy to visit Ministry where American "diplomats" will be talked to for taking an active part in helping underage children get "politically active" (in Russian). That brings us to the whole Navalny's "poisoning" affair as, primarily, a desperate attempt by the combined West on PR action (aka operation of influence) against Russia. Assuming, which is a really risky assumption, that not all people in Western intelligence-"diplomatic" establishment are complete morons, it is clear that no sane person would expect actions of this type to undermine "Putin's regime". Provide some TV picture for brainwashed Western public? Sure. But that's about it. Russia's political reality is such that it requires an apocalyptic event to change her and even then, it wouldn't be towards the outcome desired by the West. As per Alexey Navalny--everyone in Russia with IQ higher than the room temperature knows that he is an asset of Western intelligence orgs and his support base is within the statistical error, when counting votes during elections. Today's events demonstrated this perfectly. Criminal cases are being now opened as I type this (in Russian). Move along, move along--nothing to see here. Putin again "escaped" the wrath of minuscule minority of Russia's alternatively gifted teenagers and elementary school kids. Talk about "revolution".

Pepe Escobar Wrote An Excellent Piece.

You can read it in full at Saker's Blog, Zerohedge or some few other media outlets, including Asia Times. Pepe refers to me, for which I am very thankful to him, when describing the the general state of the affairs today, and I quote him:

Generally, Pepe and I we arrive to the same conclusion, as Pepe puts it:

As much as Washington is not “agreement-capable”, in the words of President Putin, so is the EU, says Lavrov: “We should stop to orient ourselves toward European partners and care about their assessments.” Not only Russia knows it: the overwhelming majority of the Global South also knows it.

A new Iron Curtain is not only possible it is inevitable now between EU/NATO and Russia. In fact, it is necessary for survival of Russia and Eurasia as a whole. Kremlin understands this completely as it is evident from today's (yesterday's) address of Putin to Valdai Conference and in a noticeable change of tone of Moscow, starting from Lavrov and now big boss himself. As Putin said today:

Translation: Making our country stronger, while looking at what is happening in the world, in other countries, I want to tell those who are still waiting for slow extinguishing of Russia: our concern in this case is only one--how not to get cold at your funeral.

Kind of speaks volumes, doesn't it? Yes, a joke, but only so far. Remarkably, conflict in Karabah is a superb demonstration of Russia's intentions and how many still fail to understand that silly games are over. Russia knows where the relations with EU are leading to and the only political forces Russia will be looking to cooperate with in Europe will be genuinely conservative ones. Most of EU establishment and vast majority of European countries' political top is globalist and Russophobic in the extreme. Well, too bad. Putin also reiterated his old point that, sure, Russia will consider including hypersonic weapon systems into discussion on START, but Putin made explicit remarks that, indeed, negotiate anything with the US in good faith is useless. As he said--we do not desperately grasp this expiring START treaty, if it expires, so be it. Very nonchalant.

As one commenter at Zero Hedge (probably German himself) noted:

That may be true, after all, the best relations in the Warsaw Pact were namely between East Germans and Russians. There is a huge history between Russians and East Germans in terms of truly allied and extremely friendly relations. This explains why, as an example, French do not view Russians as European people, while modern Germans do. I guess one can figure out that the slight majority of Germans thinking that Russians are Europeans is provided by those East Germans. But, sadly for Germans, it doesn't matter for Russians anymore. As I stated not for once, throughout my almost 60 years of life never did I encounter so much contempt for the West and lack of any desire to integrate with it on part of overwhelming majority of Russians than it is the case for the last 10 years. Modern West and Russia have very little in common culturally and, as I state ad nauseam, the gap will only grow. Basically, Vladimir Putin confirmed these points today at Valdai. But the main question is extremely simple: to negotiate WHAT, with WHO? There is nobody in the West who qualifies for a status of statesman (or stateswoman)--mostly mindless globalist morons with no real influence on the events in their countries, let alone world. I agree with Pepe, Global South knows and waits when it will get its chance which will come only with the dissolution of the present world (dis)order which outlived its usefulness by about 30 years.
