Well, somebody needs to give US MSM and many Pentagon officials a basic course in military history and a brief review of operations as reflected in Russia's field manuals and operational documents, the ones which are available to public. It might help, including the understanding of why all those Air-Land Battle(s) by Pentagon are fiction and exercise in operational and strategic wet-dreaming.
I also have news for Politico and their "journos", when they report this:

Shh, don't tell anybody, but Russians are also eagerly awaiting the appearance of the US Army's M1 Abrams MBTs and have been quite disappointed when learned that those Abrams will arrive without advanced electronics and active defense. I know, I know--they need another excuse the moment those M1s will begin to burn after meeting T-90M, PTRK Kornet or Krasnopol smart munition, or those nasty Mi-28s and Ka-52s, and that is when this excuse will be used: you see, we sent them inferior models. This is how the excuse will sound, word for word. But give British the credit where the credit is due--they first developed and procured (in Ukraine) completely Stealth MBT Challenger. It is so stealthy in visual diapason that no one have seen it on the battlefield so far. They are there, but not visible. That's what I am talking about--technology of the future.

Pentagon really needs to review its Field Manuals, because obviously those need to be updated for the combat against serious enemy, wink, wink.
Yes, I am sure Russia is completely at a loss with the date of this "offensive", because Russians, being primitive Asiatic people, fight based on stories told by locals. Speaking of which:

Officially, Kondor FKA is a satellite (there will be several of them) which are "designed", wink, wink, to serve agricultural and ice-surveying purpose. With resolution of 1 meter and the ability to see... underground facilities. Hm, I guess this good summary does the job:
As you may have guessed it, it is a very good ISR satellite(s) and its orbits, traditionally for Russians, are in 500-550 kilometer range, just in case some people in Washington decide to shoot it down. American SM-3s can shoot satellites at much lower orbits, if they are lucky. But why risk anything when you can get a very good picture from higher orbits. Plus, do not forget that now Liana is fully operational and, when one factors sensor (data) fusion from different sources, you get the picture--a very clear and almost real time picture. Make own conclusions.
I don't know who "calculated" this ever important and defining thing--a required force (наряд сил)--for this "counter-offensive", but whoever it was, or were, they have huge issues with operational planning and with math, in terms of stating conception, objectives (task) and criteria of effectiveness by which to judge the outcome, which, now we all know. Evidently, as it follows from CNN report, the unnamed (of course) US "sources" still think that:

You cannot fix stupid and amateur, and that is how US (and Western, in general) "aid" to Kiev regime increasingly looks like. But I have been at it for such a long time that there is no need to dwell on this yet again. The conclusion is simple and self-evident--those who "plan" these "operations" for VSU are the same people who ended up having lied and, finally, had their ass handed to them by a ragtag Taliban in Afghanistan and elsewhere. You cannot expect a serious combined arms operations of scale and scope of SMO ability from the military which primarily fought COIN throughout its modern existence. Granted, that North Vietnamese were more than just very skillful guerrillas, those guys also knew how to fight a good fight with serious weapons.
I am sure that this whole FUBAR with this "counter-offensive" which ended in a disaster, and pathetic attempts to sabotage IAEA visit to Zaprorozhie by trying to insert there two saboteur groups, which now have been annihilated, bear all hallmarks of the American "combined arms" planning which is primarily based around PR for the domestic consumption provided by pliable US media and have very little practical output in reality. In the end, even WaPo had enough with this "planning". Now add here a procurement failure by Pentagon ranging from losing its industrial base to a perverted practices of R&D ranging from disasters with LCS, F-35 to a dismal performance of the US-made battlefield weapons, and one begins to get the impression about what constantly goes wrong. This also explains a desperation from seeing West's best proxy ever being annihilated in industrial quantities by a fraction of Russian Armed Forces.
For the environment of America's top political echelon over-saturated with political "scientists", climate "experts" and lawyers it is impossible to explain, to get across the realities of real warfare and views of the nation whose military history simply dwarfs whatever the United States can present as a counter or alternative experience. This is not the reality "the finest fighting force in history" can easily accept, nor, possibly, judging by the spiraling out of control demoralization and declining quality of the force, even comprehend.
This is the only language combined West understands, this and a credible threat of force. This is why Russia speaks now in broadsides and we ain't seen nothing yet(c).
You all know that for many years I try to get a simple tactical and operational point across and that the US Army never fought under the conditions of a constant fire impact not only at the front-lines, but in the operational depth where your preposition areas, HQs of Divisions and Corps, ammunition and other materiel depots are subjected to constant strikes. Such as VSU learned, again, yesterday when 3M14 flew into Vinnitsa's Officer Club and wiped out the top brass of Ukie Air Force (whatever is left of it) and foreign "providers" of the remnants of the Soviet-era MiG-29s and SU-25s from former Warsaw Pact, now NATO, countries (in Russian). The United States Army simply has no reference point and any air-defense capability at the disposal of NATO today is simply insufficient or technologically obsolete to deal with salvos of Russia's stand off weapons.
Evidently this fact somehow dawned on one of the US "veterans" who in dramatic exposition of resolve and "dedication to mission" decided to volunteer to fight for Kiev regime.
Why this veteran testified in a front of Congressional Helsinki Commission--a fraudulent outlet used solely for propaganda purposes--completely baffles me, but whatever the rationale is, it is good that Vasquez, and this retired USMC Lt.Colonel recognize the fact that "the most difficult fighting is ahead". Correct, because as Vladimir Putin stated clearly:
This means that if necessary the volume and the "weight" of the salvo to operational depth could be increased order of magnitude and that will have very little military romantics left for all those "veterans" of fighting third rate armies or, altogether, lightly armed insurgents. War is not about just learning how to wear the "tactical gear" and recognize foreign explosives and small arms. It is, per our good ol' friend Clausewitz, about "compelling the enemy to do our will". The best way to compel the enemy to do one's will is to destroy its will for resistance. The best way to destroy such a will and impose your own is to annihilate the enemy in industrial quantities and that task falls on the variety of fire means (огневые средства) of which Russia has huge variety and numbers. I, of course, do not talk about all kinds of hellish long range systems such as MLRS Tornado or Iskander, also with all kinds of very nice guidance methods ranging from inertial, to optronic to GLONASS, to radar or all of it combined. I bet Taliban or Saddam's Army didn't have those. That is why all those Western "advisers" in Ukraine today are desperately trying to collect some war correlates in order to figure out how to change US Army's field manuals and procurement policies in order to have the chance against those nasty freedom-hating Roosskies. I think it is too late and too little, but, hey, who am I to decide for Pentagon thinkers how to fight the armed forces of which, as it turned out, they had very little understanding.
As one of the Representatives noted:
Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) lauded the veterans for their decision to volunteer in the Ukrainian conflict at the briefing. “Foreign fighters have actually come in to heroically volunteer and
are enduring intense combat conditions and witnessing the gross human
rights violations perpetrated by (Vladimir) Putin.”
Mr. Wilson, those are not really that "intense combat conditions". As the President of Russia stated--you ain't seen nothing yet. But even what has been seen terrified very many in the West. And Russia's main forces haven't been even introduced yet. So, if many confused and disoriented "veterans" from the West want to experience a real war, they will surely be welcomed by recon and fire power they never knew existed.
But now, apart from "planned withdrawal" (a euphemism for running scared shitless from positions) from Seversk, which is about to fall, Ukraine's Minister of Defense Reznikov, who just a few days ago proclaimed those plans to start counter-offensive with the aim to retake Southern Ukraine from those Rooskies, suddenly (not really), and you have guessed already, announced (in his interview to The Times) that there was "misunderstanding" and that the talk was merely about "developing plans on de-occupation" (in Russian). No shit. But the drama, the drama! I wonder how's the movie, a Hollywood creep Sean Penn is directing, about "heroic" Ukies progressing? When will we see this wartime drama about Nazi regime in Kiev and its enablers from Washington, London and Western media and... Hollywood? Cannot wait for it.
