Kevork brought up the article from The Guardian by insane Russophobe Simon Tisdall. 

Ukraine is Europe’s fight. It’s freedom’s global fight, Joe Biden says – a fight for democracy. “Our support cannot and will not falter. Britain is with you for as long as it takes,” Rishi Sunak vows. Yet, on the ground, Ukraine is mostly left to fight alone.

Here is an example of British "education", where in elite British degree mills they prepare illiterate propagandists and war criminals, responsible for atrocities across the globe. So, this human excrement, who would shit his pants from the even remote possibility of sustaining any harm to himself in the war zone, but he still cannot grasp the issue of the UK being culpable, together with the US, in unleashing the largest, since WW II, war in Europe.

It’s increasingly up to Europe, which has most to lose. Aside from the dire consequences of Ukraine’s permanent partition or total subjugation, success for Putin’s neo-imperial project prospectively imperils a clutch of former Soviet republics – Georgia is one vulnerable example – the EU and European security. If such scenarios materialised, Nato would be sucked in regardless. Or would it? Trump is a wild card. If he beats Biden in November, former advisers are convinced he will pull the rug from under Ukraine and cosy up to Putin. They also believe he will move to quit Nato, initially by sabotaging or blocking operations. July’s birthday party may be Nato’s last. At which point, Europe really would be on its own.

Shouldn't be allowed anywhere near media when commenting on issues of war and strategy. We do not allow janitors to perform open heart surgeries for a reason; British politicos in general, bar some few exceptions here and there, shouldn't be taken seriously on any issue of international relations until they swear they understand REAL position of UK as the second (if not third) world country, declining even at being that. Per Tisdall, he is a classic Goebbelsonian sociopath with personal grievances and British delusions of grandeur and should be, his propaganda activity considered, charged as the war criminal culpable in promoting genocidal policies by Washington and London in 404. As per NATO "involvement"--they do not teach in UK how military-economic and combat potentials are counted and how state's grand strategy relates to military one--too complex, many numbers and knowledge of real history.

How They Study War...

 ... in Western academe. Recall this both heartbreaking but also a heartwarming picture of dedicated Ghanian teacher Richard Appiah Akoto trying to introduce kids in his village to computers. 

This story had a happy end--Richard was invited by Microsoft to Singapore meeting and donations of lap and desktops poured in. This lesson has a lesson in it--here, we have a person of a true dedication trying to make the best of it with no means at all. 

Here is the opposite--bunch of imbeciles from London parade themselves as... imbeciles. 

This objective had seemed impossible. Now, though, a string of Ukrainian garrison cities are suddenly in peril as Russian combat units move forward, supported by planes dropping lethal glide bombs. Putin’s generals are using classic Soviet military tactics from the second world war. They are trying to encircle Ukrainian troops on multiple fronts. The capture of Ocheretyne means Moscow has tantalising options. It can push west through Hrodivka to the city of Pokrovsk, a key Ukrainian military base. Or its forces can head north. If Russia manages to capture the city of Chasiv Yar, it can simultaneously advance from the south, chopping off a further large chunk of Ukrainian territory.

The Guardian and its "military experts" evidently, unlike Richard who had no means, have everything at their disposal but UK and its lilliputian military literally have NO people who understand modern warfare and do not know a simple issue of force economy mode by Russian forces in SMO, as opposed to Deep Operations in WW II which saw not only demolition of Wehrmacht and Axis armies, and army groups, but also high casualties for the Red Army. Offensive operations are ALWAYS costly in blood and materiel. Two wars cannot be more different strategically, not to mention operationally, especially because NATO (US) ISR works 24/7 for Nazis in Kiev. The military illiteracy of the combined West is stupefying--lazy uncultured hacks who study world outside the same way Richard tried to introduce kids to computers by drawing them on the chalkboard. But if Richard is a hero and an example of humility and humanity, these creeps with all those advanced degrees in nothing should pay more attention to their resources at hand and try to study real war, not BS they teach at Sandhurst...

Color Me Surprised, Not.

The Guardian, as most of the Western MSM is a human and professional sewer. One cannot get the job in NYT, The Guardian or Times without being a prostitute, including literal meaning of this word, and an ignorant narcissist--a primary "education" one gets in Liberal Arts schools around the West nowadays. But when even such lowlife as Simon Jenkins begins to wonder:

I have asked for, but failed in all attempts to find, evidence that the UK government – or, I assume, any western government – did any forecast of the consequences of sanctions before imposing them. Elementary economics should have predicted that Russia’s huge dollar reserves, reputedly about $650bn, would protect its economy from severe damage. Predictable too was the impact of retaliatory sanctions on European energy and food prices. Was this never discussed? It would have been far better to concentrate all resources on aiding Ukraine on the battlefield. The modern economic sanction is a weapon not unlike America’s A-bomb in the film Oppenheimer: its rhetoric, its potency and its capacity to cause harm so exhilarates its creators that there is little thought given to its practical consequences or moral implications. It becomes an article of faith as much as a weapon of war – and as such unchallengeable.

One has to wonder if this classic product (or, rather, excrement) of UK's humanities degree mill has even rudimentary tool kit to "forecast" anything other than his next bowel movement. Yet, he arrives to a correct conclusion that nobody in the combined West did any forecasting, and the main reason for this is simple: they CANNOT do forecasting. Strategic analysis and forecasting in the West is absent as such--it cannot exist in the environment of ignorant and highly uncultured Western "intellectual elite" and its institutions because the West doesn't produce a serious intellect anymore, the one which has professional an human integrity to deal in facts not delusions. 

Jenkins, being Oxford's product in "philosophy and economics", of course, cannot grasp realities of real economy and warfare of Russia, not to speak of knowing Russian history and culture, yet he still comes up with wrong conclusion of resilience of Russian economy, attributing it to those proverbial $650 billion, half of which was stolen by the West anyway. It is difficult to explain to such a guy, who sat on several boards of all kinds of UK's orgs who participated in turning UK into shithole with the second world economy that Russia's resilience comes from a much larger number of sources than merely currency reserves. I guess he never heard of real economy, a gigantic resource extraction and processing sector, not to mention Russia's colossal military-industrial complex which since Soviet times had an extremely developed dual-technology and consumer market capacity. I am not talking about Johnny-come-lately "discovery" by UK's very own RUSI that, boy, warfare is actually about industries, and I don't mean industries like porn movies, growing pot and prostitution. 

The verdict is in--Western "elites" failed in every aspect of their activity and it WAS expected and was forecasted, by yours truly included, because of the systemic collapse of West's intellect and rational thinking which was a result of a complete corruption and degeneration of West's educational (and political) system which stopped producing people of true vision and intellect--only uncultured and intellectually feeble punditry, such as the author of this "revelation" in The Guardian where no person with honor and integrity would lower itself to write for.

Two days ago The Guardian posted the article about a very dear and respected by me man. At my time in 1980s, a superintendent of my naval academy, Vasili Alexandrovich Arkhipov. When I started my naval military exploits in 1980 he was a rear-admiral, later, in 1981 he was promoted to the vice-admiral and, of course, we all knew his story. I had an honor to know, as many our naval cadets and officers, him personally and serve aKVVMKU--my years. nd study under his outstanding command.

“The Future of Life award is a prize awarded for a heroic act that has greatly benefited humankind, done despite personal risk and without being rewarded at the time,” said Max Tegmark, professor of physics at MIT and leader of the Future of Life Institute. “The lesson from this is that a guy called Vasili Arkhipov saved the world,’’ Thomas Blanton, director of the National Security Archive at George Washington University, told the Boston Globe in 2002, following a conference in which the details of the situation were explored.
