A Rather Good Summary.

In order for me not to write this myself. 

He is talking about this--fresh from May this year: 
Global airspace is under pressure like never before. IATA chief Willie Walsh says airlines are adapting — but they need all available information to make the right calls in an increasingly complex world. The world’s commercial  airspace is under more strain than ever, with airlines having to adapt to an ever-shifting map of viable flight paths. In an exclusive interview with Skift, Willie Walsh, Director General of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) said the problem is “the worst it’s ever been." While the underlying problems are nothing new, Walsh suggested that the scale and complexity of the situation are without precedent.

Under "global" he means, of course, West. But no, they, meaning Western airlines, will not "adapt" because one cannot "adapt" geography, unless one comes up with the new method of travel, because international "consensus" (or rather nations' own definitions) defines country's air space (demarcation) as a vertical contour of the national borders, including territorial waters (usually 12 nautical miles) and going up 100 km (so called Karman Line). So, mighty British government and aerospace industry are welcomed to develop a hypersonic atmosphere-space transport system which will launch from Heathrow and fly to the elevation of 101+ km and then they can fly over Russia. I am being sarcastic, of course. 

Per "Mineral Resources Agreement" between the US and 404, and this "agreement" being nothing more than useless PR stunt, I can only quote Uncle Joe, I mean Stalin, when he correctly asked: "And how many divisions does the Pope have." Combined West, due to believing own BS of being an economic hyperpower and military's "finest fighting force in history", failed to recognize the reality--not surprising considering the level of "talent" in Pentagon and CIA--and decided to throw away international law. Once it did it, it woke up people who have been in the business of beating the shit out of the combined West for millennium. The result this time is about the same. It is not only about real economy and weapons. Here is famous MIFI  (Western "ratings" fanboys can shove their "ratings" up their asses)--the Center of Radiophotonics and Super High Frequency electronics. The air in the room is cleaner than in the operating room. 


As you all know, Russia had working prototype of radiophotonic radar already a few years back. Throw in, together with radiophotonic radar, other sensors, sensor fusion and modern signal processing and ... yes, throw away all this "stealth" BS together with all this talk about "6th generation" fighters--those will be something which is beyond the grasp of military porn addicts. 2017, mind you, 8 years back:

Концерн «Радиоэлектронные технологии» (КРЭТ) создал экспериментальный образец радиофотонного радара для истребителя шестого поколения, который придет на смену Т-50. Экспериментальный образец передает, принимает и обрабатывает сигнал, сообщил в интервью советник первого заместителя гендиректора КРЭТ Владимир Михеев.По его словам, продвижение в работах по созданию бортового радиоэлектронного оборудования для летательного аппарата шестого поколения есть, и в частности в отношении радио-оптической фотонной антенной решетки его бортового локатора.«В НИР [научно-исследовательской работе] на основе экспериментального образца построен и излучатель, и приемник. Все это работает, ведет локацию — излучаем СВЧ- сигнал [сверхвысокочастотный], он отражается назад, мы его принимаем и обрабатываем, получаем радиолокационную картинку объекта. Смотрим, что нужно сделать, чтобы она была оптимальной», — рассказал он.

Translation: The Concern Radioelectronic Technologies (KRET) has created an experimental model of a radio-photonic radar for a sixth-generation fighter jet that will replace the T-50. The experimental model transmits, receives and processes a signal, said Vladimir Mikheev, Advisor to the First Deputy General Director of KRET, in an interview. According to him, there is progress in the work on creating on-board radio-electronic equipment for the sixth-generation aircraft, in particular with regard to the radio-optical photonic antenna array of its on-board locator. “In the R&D [research work], both an emitter and a receiver were built based on the experimental model. All this works, it conducts location - we emit a microwave signal [ultra-high frequency], it is reflected back, we receive and process it, we get a radar image of the object. We are looking at what needs to be done to make it optimal,” he said.

Eight years ago. By that time Russia had already first hypersonic systems in Initial Operational Capability, it is just that the West didn't know or simply didn't understand what was going on. Ask how?

Российские школьники заработали три золотые и четыре серебряные медали на Азиатской олимпиаде по физике. Об этом сообщает РИА Новости со ссылкой на аппарат вице-премьера РФ Дмитрия Чернышенко. Отмечается, что Азиатская олимпиада по физике проходила в городе Дахран в Саудовской Аравии. «Мировое золото по физике снова наше! Российские школьники блестяще выступили на Азиатской олимпиаде по этому предмету. Верим, что ребята станут продолжателями славных традиций отечественной научной школы», — отметил Чернышенко. Глава Минпросвещения РФ Сергей Кравцов выразил уверенность, что достижения победителей олимпиады вдохновят миллионы школьников по всей стране. Кравцов также пожелал ребятам не останавливаться на достигнутом и всегда стремиться к новым знаниям.

Translation: Russian schoolchildren have won three gold and four silver medals at the Asian Physics Olympiad. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the office of Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko. It is noted that the Asian Physics Olympiad was held in the city of Dhahran in Saudi Arabia. "World gold in physics is ours again! Russian schoolchildren performed brilliantly at the Asian Physics Olympiad in this subject. We believe that the children will continue the glorious traditions of the national scientific school," Chernyshenko noted. The head of the Russian Ministry of Education Sergei Kravtsov expressed confidence that the achievements of the Olympiad winners will inspire millions of schoolchildren across the country. Kravtsov also wished the children not to stop there and always strive for new knowledge.

The times when Western corporations would immediately rush in and negotiate with kids and their parents future contracts are over. Most stay home--bright future, great grants and prestige.

ROFAR, Yet Again.

As TASS reports, RTI Group (give it a time for web-site to download--RTI may have incredible competencies in radio-electronics, their web-designers suck, however) tested the Radio-Photonics radar (Radio Optic Phased Array Radar) of new generation and it detects and tracks targets. This was confirmed by RTI's CEO Maxim Kuzyuk in his interview to TASS at Army-2019 exhibition. 
Translation: the layout sample and software are working, we have a concrete result. We tested it, and radar already builds tracks (tracking) of flying aircraft. Next task is creation of the imitation-modelling stand and improvement of radar's hardware and software, including creation of integral photon chips.

About three years ago, famous, in certain teenage and fanboys circles, American "military expert", who was injured in Afghanistan while hanging out with US military there (that surely makes him an expert), and famous... comic creator, known as David Axe, "warned" not to "sweat" Russia's radar. Yes, he said so: Don’t Sweat Russia’s Stealth-Fighter-Detecting New Radar. Sunflower can detect, but it can’t target. 

Obviously, David Axe, while being "war correspondent"  failed to learn the basics of targeting, including multi-band radar and optronic data fusion and protocols and mathematical tools used to resolve uncertainties (Kalman Filter, anyone, networking?) and provide predictions, so, naturally, he, as usual, failed miserably while exhibiting his utter incompetence. But, David Axe is just one of many manifestations of those "correspondents", political "scientists" and "analysts" who continuously fail to retain any grasp on modern warfare which, in peer-to-peer framework, requires way more than drawing false parallels and symmetries from much simpler times trying to apply them to today's mind-boggling and paradigm-shifting Real Revolution in Military Affairs. Yes, my next book is precisely about it. Radio-Photonics is one such development out of many which, pardon me for pointing this out, condemned the whole American concept of the warfare to the dust bin of history. 

As I stated earlier, the process of "revelation" of new technologies and, with them, new operational concepts and force structure will continue but in less dramatic fashion than it was on March 1, 2018 during Vladimir Putin's address to Russia's Federal Assembly. This latest news about ROFAR are just another in the series of Russia demonstrating military technologies of the future. But most importantly--look at the photo of RTI's CEO Maxim Kuzyuk--he is young, 43 years old. Degree in applied Physics and Mathematics from legendary MFTI.

Did anyone notice a year or so ago Chief Designer of T-14 Armata tank and Armata platforms? Young, early 40s at best. As Putin himself pointed out--the group which developed SU-57--all youngsters, some in their late 20s--early 30s. They, not some specific technologies, are the future and real treasure. I am almost forced to quote Uncle Joe (Stalin): cadres decide everything(c). As per this beaten to death "Stealth"--in cultured companies who have at least some ideas about modern radar and optronic technologies, forget ROFAR, using this term soon will become the sign of a bad taste. I guess that explains why Turkey and India are not going to refuse their S-400s, as Pompeo learned it the hard (and rather humiliating) way in Delhi.

Radiophotonics, Again.

I know I am being bad because I don't keep my word on getting to Radiophotonics topic but I have an excuse--I am really busy. This morning, however, some interesting news--it does exist, it is in the process of trials and addressing its inevitable issues (in Russian), and that means the end radio VLO as such in a very near future. Not that VLO is that much useful now in high end peer-to-peer warfare but ramifications of radiophotonics radar being deployed in the modern battle-field are immense and have strategic implications. This also explains Russia's rather calm and confident reaction in the last 20+ years to US radio VLO (Stealth) developments since modern signal processing and sensor fusion techniques allow for a very effective countering of "stealth" targets. 

In fact, at this stage any further investment into VLO technologies seems to be just a waste of time and money or, as Commanders Gattuso and Tanner wrote 17 years ago (in relation to CVN(X)), it is:
like polishing cannonballs so they will fly a little farther
Difficult to disagree. In fact, one of the reasons I am being that non-responsive re: this particular radiophotonics issue is because I decided to become a "Tom Clancy", just a teeny-weeny bit, otherwise I will need a serious detox, in trying to look into the future of the warfare and that is what parts of my new book are about. No doubt, new detection methods will play a crucial role in providing a reliable coverage against any kind of threats for those nations which will gain a decisive advantage in radiophotonics technology, among many others.

Ruslan Ostashko On Radiophotonics.

Speaking (in Russian) yesterday Ruslan Ostashko made a rather startling (starts at 2:50) statement:


In accordance to his (most likely his sources) info, Russia not only already has radiophotonics radar, we knew that device existed and was working in lab, but that it will be on trials on Su-35 as a platform before 2021 and that it will be a serial production device.  This is really a sensational, well, to a degree, info, which also explains why Chinese too, couple days ago, started talking about their own quantum radar. Well, folks, this is the end of "stealth" aviation as we know it. 

I guess I shouldn't explain what all this means. Ostashko uses example of Elon Musk as a snake oil peddler for a reason--talk and image are cheap, strategic stability is very very expensive and labor and intellect intensive. It fits quite well with Putin very recently calling for development of a completely new generation of weapons on new physical principles, such as this (in Russian). Obviously, such systems are being developed and now some information begins to trickle down to us, mere mortals. As I said before, we are witnessing a real revolution in military affairs (RMA) which changes modern battlefield in a profound and dramatic way. 

Well, looking at new Russian Strategic Missile Forces Academy one kinda gets the feel where it all goes, even aesthetics of it speaks volumes.
