The leaders of France and Germany have welcomed the talks, but stressed a further need to back Ukraine. “The next step must be a complete ceasefire for Ukraine and as quickly as possible. Of course it is clear that we both agree on this too,” Chancellor Olaf Scholz said at a press conference in Berlin with French President Emmanuel Macron. Olaf reiterated that Germany will back Ukraine and “will not let [Kiev] down,” according to Reuters. Macron called Russia’s agreement to halt strikes on energy facilities “a good start” in the peace process. “We will continue to support the Ukrainian army in its war of resistance against Russian aggression,” he said.
The main question any military-intel professional must ask under these circumstances, laughable as they are, is--"to back" with WHAT? With sparse shitty European weapon systems such as brooms which Bundeswehr used in 2015 due to lack of standard issue automatic rifles, or with French Rafale, whose "combat record" is in fighting non-existent Taliban Air Force and AD? With what? What are the forces and means which EU can provide 404 that will make a difference? EU doesn't have any and being practically completely reliant on the American ISR, both atmospheric and space based, what's left? Well--nothing. Europe will return to its natural state of the collection of warring petty nations under the Damocles Sword of the overwhelming conventional and nuclear Russian superiority--let them play in their sandbox and kill each-other, if they wish to play with their toys.
