She earned her BA in history and political science from Ashland University in Ohio, was an Ashbrook Scholar, and currently serves as a member of the University's Board of Trustees.

Defense and Strategic Studies, whatever passes under this title in the US, for decades have produced people, including top military brass, who wouldn't be able to fight their way out of wet paper bag.
