He is completely brainwashed and has very little grasp of the Great Patriotic War. He should concentrate on expressing himself on what he knows best--US Army.
I understand he goes through the grief process when everything he knew in life about war, especially WW II, turned out to be utter BS and propaganda, but he is no serious military historian or, for that matter, Russia's scholar (US doesn't have one), he also should open General Krivosheev's works and get busy with numerical analysis of Red Army's operations. He completely compromised himself with statements like this. I doubt he can change his views at this stage of his life but life is unfair. He is a product of Solzhenitsyn's fantasies and other pseudo-history garbage which he uses to justify his views and biases. He should read War and Peace.
