Members of the Mexican drug cartel Jalisco New Generation (CJNG) have undergone training in Ukraine, where they learned how to use UAVs in combat conditions. This was reported by the Mexican publication Milenio, citing sources in the law enforcement agencies of the state of Jalisco. According to the publication, CJNG militants traveled to Ukraine, where they adopted combat methods typical of modern military conflicts, including the tactics of using drones to carry out pinpoint strikes. And here is the issue--cartels do form now subunits designed specifically for drone warfare and, eventually, their activity at this level of tactics will hit the southern border of the US. What can be guaranteed, though, is the fact that the United States, as was the case with GWOT (how can you fight terror is a complete mystery for me), Trump Admin will concentrate not on real fight against cartels but on something which satisfies Trump's ego. I am positive that much more serious weapons than AK-47 and even RPGs are being shipped to cartels, if not already there. But then again, recall Zakharova's quip today--critically uneducated.
