Ukraine’s top commander Aleksandr Syrsky is ready to lay down arms and capitulate to Russia, a lawmaker from Vladimir Zelensky’s party has claimed. Syrsky was appointed Ukraine’s highest-ranking general in early February, replacing Valery Zaluzhny, who oversaw last year’s failed attempt to push back Russian forces. According to MP Mariana Bezuglaya from Zelensky’s ‘Servant of the People’ party, the two are secretly colluding to prevent a Ukrainian victory. Bezuglaya, who is also deputy chair of the National Security, Defense and Intelligence Committee, laid out her case for a top-level military conspiracy in a lengthy post on Facebook on Saturday.

This may or may not be true, but at this point the only issue is that of numbers: how many more VSU cannon fodder will be annihilated before inevitability in Washington hits the fifth stage of Kubler-Ross--the Acceptance--and those perfumed boys and girls in Biden "national insecurity" complex begin to resign themselves to them being nothing more than fanatical and incompetent war criminals, responsible for the largest war on European soil since WW II. I heard they are "preparing" yet another counteroffensive. Sure.

A Mistake...

Colonel still thinks that Putin is some naive guy who waits for the political change in Europe, thus, for now, avoiding large offensive operations. Nothing could be further from the truth--Russia's strategic analysis is arguably the best in the world and nobody in Russia's Security Council has any illusions on the nature of European regimes and populations. Europe is not coming back, it is over. I understand Colonel's frustration with Germans, but it is what it is--a brainwashed population with a few islands of common sense here and there. And it has to be understood that there could be no normal relations between Russia and Germany, despite a lingering myth about some abstract Russo-German economic "alliance". It was always nothing but a myth.

Per Syrsky being an asset of MI6 and being "employed" for primarily terrorist attacks on Russian soil against civilian targets--possible. The whole governing structure in UK is a joke, as are its military and intel services, who channel frustration from being a third rate power into killing civilians and false flag operations--this, they still can do. The pain and suffering from sensing own role as nothing but a chihuahua in the fight of a bear with behemoth is understandable, but UK should concentrate primarily on dealing with immigration and cultural "enrichment", not on pathetic attempts at feeling itself important, it is not and hasn't been in a long time. 

To understand why Colonel is wrong, enough to take a look at Elena Karaeva's excellent piece in Ria today with the title: In War With Russia Europe Bought Itself One-way Ticket. Sadly, machine translation may kill some sarcasm and contempt for the combined West in this piece, but it is still worth reading. But the title is correct in every respect. 

Changes Nothing.

Generally, this is why Nuland flew to Kiev a few days back. 

General Valery Zaluzhny, who has led the Ukrainian Armed Forces throughout the conflict with Russia, was relieved of his post on Thursday. The move comes days after President Vladimir Zelensky hinted at the dismissal in an interview, causing public backlash. Defense Minister Rustem Umerov made the announcement on Facebook, crediting Zaluzhny for having carried out “one of the most difficult tasks” by leading the military against Russia. “But the war doesn’t remain the same. War is changing and demands change. Combat in 2022, 2023 and 2024 are three different realities; 2024 will bring new changes that we must be prepared for. New approaches, new strategies are needed,” Umerov wrote. “Today, the decision on the necessity of changing the leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was adopted,” he added.

Umerov, obviously, wouldn't know how "war is changing", but the appointment of the butcher of own troops, especially in Bakhmut, Syrsky will only accelerate a catastrophic state of the remnants of VSU, which are now being mauled along the whole length of the front and the whole fortified area of Avdeevka being split effectively in two cauldrons. It is also too late for VSU to settle into "strategic defense" because one should understand what strategic defense is in terms of its depth and it is certainly not the line of fortified areas, largely broken through, which VSU and NATO built prior to SMO. They are trying to copy Stavitsky Line but all in vain. All in all--makes no difference whatsoever for already clearly visible outcome.

KRAMATORSK, Ukraine — The Ukrainian military is facing a critical shortage of infantry, leading to exhaustion and diminished morale on the front line, military personnel in the field said this week — a perilous new dynamic for Kyiv nearly two years into the grinding, bloody war with Russia. In interviews across the front line in recent days, nearly a dozen soldiers and commanders told The Washington Post that personnel deficits were their most critical problem now, as Russia has regained the offensive initiative on the battlefield and is stepping up its attacks. One battalion commander in a mechanized brigade fighting in eastern Ukraine said that his unit currently has fewer than 40 infantry troops — the soldiers deployed in front-line trenches who hold off Russian assaults. A fully equipped battalion would have more than 200, the commander said.

Hey, WaPo, where is your "reporting" from Summer 2023 on the expected defeat of Russian Army? I guess they are learning now that victory is not defined just by the captured area or the length of dashes, but in physical annihilation of the enemy. Too late now for them.
